The $200 million record
The largest lottery jackpot Australia has seen was Powerball draw 1446 on Thursday 1 February 2024. The Lottery Corporation’s 2024 annual report calls it “February’s record $200 million Powerball jackpot”, which “followed $100 million and $150 million draws” and was “modelled as a one-in-seven-year event”. Lotterywest’s result for that draw shows two Division 1 winners, each paid $100 million, neither of them in WA.
Two winners for a record pool is typical of how big jackpots behave. The odds of Division 1 don’t move when the jackpot grows, but many more games are bought, so the chance that more than one entry lands the numbers goes up.

Division 1 pools that were won, largest first, from 143 Powerball draws since January 2024 in Lotterywest's published results. Pools that jackpotted without a winner aren't counted.
The table counts pools that were actually won. When a draw has no Division 1 winner, its pool rolls into the next Thursday instead, which is how the $150 million and $200 million pools were built up.
Why the jackpot grows
Lotterywest’s game guide says the Powerball Division 1 pool starts at $5 million and increases each draw it isn’t won. Under Lotterywest’s Powerball permit, 31.50% of each draw’s prize pool goes to Division 1, and the pool is shared equally among all Division 1 winners. With odds of 1 in 134,490,400 per game, most Thursdays pass without a winner: in the 143 draws from 4 January 2024 to 24 September 2026, Division 1 went unclaimed in 97.

Oz Lotto’s biggest recent jackpot was $100 million, which The Lottery Corporation’s 2025 annual report describes as “the game’s largest offer since 2012”.
