How a Saturday Lotto system works

Saturday Lotto draws eight numbers from a barrel of 45. Lotterywest’s game page explains that the first six are the winning numbers and the last two are the supplementaries. A standard game is six numbers, and the minimum standard entry is four games, $3.80 in WA.

A system entry lets you choose more numbers and plays every six-number game among them. A System 7 is 7 games, a System 8 is 28 and a System 9 is 84. That’s the maths, not a mood: each extra number multiplies the combinations.

Systems 4 and 5 run the other way round. You choose 4 or 5 numbers, and the entry covers every way to complete the game from the rest of the barrel. That comes to 820 games for a System 4 and 40 for a System 5.

Saturday Lotto systems price list

A System 8 costs $26.65 in WA. Here’s the table, from Lotterywest’s Saturday Lotto price list checked on 27 September 2026.

SystemNumbers you chooseGamesPrice in WA
System 44820$780.65
System 5540$38.10
System 777$6.65
System 8828$26.65
System 9984$79.95
System 1010210$199.90
System 1111462$439.80
System 1212924$879.65

Divide any price by its games and you get about $0.95 a game, the same rate as standard games in the same list, where 10 games cost $9.50. A system carries no discount and no surcharge, and Lotterywest charges the same in store and online.

What the money buys is coverage. A System 8 turns 8 numbers into 28 games, so a draw that hits several of your numbers can pay several games at once.

Oz Lotteries sells Saturday Lotto for this week’s draw online as an authorised reseller of The Lottery Corporation. Its prices are its own; the table above is Lotterywest’s price list for WA.

What a System 8 wins

First, the six divisions and their odds per game, as Lotterywest publishes them.

DivisionYou needOdds per game
161 in 8,145,060
25 + 1 supp1 in 678,755
351 in 36,690
441 in 733
53 + 1 supp1 in 298
631 in 53
Any prize1 in 42

Now the System 8. The table counts its winning games for each outcome, using those division rules.

Winning numbers among your 8None of the others is a supplementaryOne of the others is a supplementary
61 × Division 1, 12 × Division 3, 15 × Division 41 × Division 1, 6 × Division 2, 6 × Division 3, 15 × Division 4
53 × Division 3, 15 × Division 4, 10 × Division 61 × Division 2, 2 × Division 3, 15 × Division 4, 10 × Division 5
46 × Division 4, 16 × Division 66 × Division 4, 12 × Division 5, 4 × Division 6
310 × Division 66 × Division 5, 4 × Division 6

We counted these from the division rules. Lotterywest publishes its own prize table for every Saturday Lotto system, linked under Sources. Each winning game is paid the dividend for its division in that draw, and those dividends are on the Saturday Lotto results page after each draw.

Your odds with a system

Each game keeps its odds: 1 in 8,145,060 for Division 1. A system gives you more games, so the whole entry’s chance is that figure divided by the games it holds.

SystemGamesDivision 1 odds for the whole entry
System 771 in 1,163,580
System 8281 in 290,895
System 9841 in 96,965
System 102101 in 38,786
System 114621 in 17,630
System 129241 in 8,815

Because 8,145,060 divides evenly by each of these game counts, the figures are exact. For comparison with other games, the Oz Lotto odds page sets Saturday Lotto next to Oz Lotto, Powerball and the daily games.

A System 8 and 28 standard games sit at the same rate of about $0.95 a game. What differs is how the games relate.

The system’s 28 games all come from the same 8 numbers, so they rise and fall together. A draw with three winning numbers among your 8 pays 10 games at once. A draw with two or fewer of your 8 among the winning numbers pays none of the 28.

Systems 13 to 20

Lotterywest says Saturday Lotto systems are available up to System 20, and its FAQ lists Systems 4 to 5 and 7 to 20. The price list stops at System 12, so we can’t give a WA price for anything bigger. The number of games is simple combination maths:

System 155,005
System 168,008
System 1712,376

Sales close and where to buy

Lotterywest closes Saturday Lotto sales at 6:00 pm AWST. That’s 8:00 pm AEST, or 9:00 pm AEDT in NSW, Victoria, the ACT and Tasmania once daylight saving starts on 4 October. Lotterywest’s guide lists Division 1 at an estimated $6 million, with Superdraws and Megadraws offering more.

In WA, Lotterywest’s prices above apply at retailers and online, and each draw is also on Saturday Lotto results for WA. We couldn’t check prices outside WA, because The Lott’s site doesn’t open from our location. Oz Lotteries doesn’t sell to WA or Queensland residents.

Oz Lotto systems run up to System 19, and the Oz Lotto system price list sets them out the same way.
